Unpacked and Exposed
Anytime I travel, unpacking is a must. I hate packing. I’m not good at it, nor do I ever claim to be. I start out organized by laying everything out on my dresser. Sometimes, I even try on the outfits to make sure I’ll like them once I’m on the trip. I’ll replace some items or remove them altogether to save space. Then, I start packing all of my clothes and shoes. When it’s time to head out the door, I find myself grabbing this jacket and those jeans and just one more tank top just in case I don’t like what I packed. It happens every single time until my bag is so stuffed I cannot fit one more item inside. Once I arrive at my new home for a week or so, I have to unpack. I love putting my clothes in drawers or on hangers so I can really see what I’m working with. I like to imagine that I live there. It truly helps me dive into the culture of the town by unpacking. I don’t have to dig and dig in a suitcase for the one item I swear I packed. I know exactly where it is because everything has its place. I think it’s the explorer and adventurer in me. It gives me a sense of belonging I didn’t have when I first arrived.
